The Power of Positive Self-Expectancy

Do you find yourself fighting the negative things in life?

Is it becoming harder and harder with all the negative news?

DID YOU KNOW?

You can create a new optimistic way of life today!

Positive self-expectancy is the first, most outwardly identifiable quality of a top-achieving, winning
human being. Positive self-expectancy is pure and simple optimism: real enthusiasm for everything you do. And optimism is expecting the most favorable result from your own actions. It’s also controlling what goes into your mind. In a 24/7 connected world, sometimes we just need to tune out.

There never was a winner who didn’t expect to win in advance.

Winners understand that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. And they know that you usually get what you expect in the long run. So winners accept the belief that hope and a deep, unbreakable faith — forged into a fundamental attitude of positive self-expectancy — is the eternal spring from which all creative, motivating energy flows.

How often have you expected that something would work and it did?

Now, flip that around, how often did you just absolutely known that something was going to fail – and guess what – it did?

I wish I could go beyond this notion of positive thinking and explain in quantum physics terminology that actual workings of this but, I’m a results person. If it gets results, I don’t always need to know why.

Here’s how to apply this.

  • If you expect your clients to be thrilled with your services – they will
  • If you flat out expect your clients to refer business your way – they will
  • If you know a direct marketing piece will make the phone ring – it will

Okay, I’m not saying that don’t need a good list, killer copy and effective design but, you’ve got to believe your marketing will payoff or you won’t bring to it the proper energy and enthusiasm required to work through the trial and error phase.

Have you ever tried to sell something that you didn’t really believe in?

On the other hand, have you ever found yourself so excited about a product or service that people bought from you because they almost had to?

This notion of expecting and receiving success is widely accepted in self-help, philosophical and spiritual circles. Business owners sometimes feel the need for cold hard facts and statistics – logical explanations.

But think about this for a minute.

When was the last time you made a purchase for purely logical reasons. Almost every buying decision ever made was based on emotion and rationalized with logic.

So, what better way to bring emotion into your marketing than to expect marketing miracles everyday.

LOOKING FOR A BETTER WAY

Life for most of us, should be pretty good.

We have all heard what life is supposed to offer:

  • Endless opportunities
  • Fulfillment of our dreams
  • A chance to live each day in a way that brings happiness and success.

Most of us want and need at least a successful job or career, a good family life and reasonable financial security.

We expect that from life.

We know deep inside that we deserve our fair share and we have every right to attain it.

Have you ever wondered, then, why things didn’t work out the way they should? Why do we not get from life many of the things we would like to have – and know we should?

Why some people seem to be “Lucky”, while the great majority of the rest of us seem not to be?

Is the control of our lives in our hands or isn’t it? And if we can, or should control our lives what goes wrong?

What holds us back?

If we truly would like to do better, be the way we really would like to be, and be happier and more successful every day in every area of living, what is the wall that stands in our way?

FOCUS

If you are not Happy with your Output, you will need to have a new Input to get a new Ouput!

Take time to focus on the positive, the exciting, what the future holds for you.

If you had just the right kind of successful new mental program, would you be doing the same thing for a living that you are doing now?

Would you be doing your job in exactly the same way?

What about your personal life?

Would you change anything, improve anything?

After all, success, ultimately, is up to the individual. It isn’t the pen-it’s the writer; it isn’t the road-it’s the runner that counts.

Neither luck nor desire has the slightest thing to do with it. It makes no difference whether we believe it or not. The brain simply believes what you tell it the most. What you most focus on be it positive or negative. And what you tell it about you, it will create. It has not choice.

SELF-TALK

Positive Self Tallk

What we say when we talk to ourselves matters. Is it positive? Negative?

Because of our programming we form patterns – repetive styles, actions and thoughts in our subconcious mind. We tend to repeat those behavior patterns that are the most strongly programmed.

Winners expect another good day, a promotion, a raise, to find a parking place, a productive meeting, and a harmonious family life — and they usually get them.

Winners know that their actions will be controlled by their current obsessions. Losers generally expect more of the same frustration, more problems, the loss of a job, a dull evening, bad service, and failure. Most importantly, losers expect to feel bad and get sick — and they do.

FIVE LEVELS OF SELF TALK

Level 1: The Level of Negative Acceptance. At the bottom of the list and the most harmful self-talk we can use is Level I. This is the level of Negative Acceptance. Taht is self-talk by which you say something bad or negative about yourself, and ou accept it.

Level 2: The Level of Recognition and Need to Change. This level is puzzling. On the surface it looks as though it should work for us. But instead, it works against us. In this level of self-talk we are stating to ourselves and to others our recognition of our need to change.

Level 3: The Level of Decision to Change.  This level of self-talk is the first level that works for you instead of against you. You reconize the need to change, but you also make the decision to do something about it- and you state the decision in the “present tense” – as though the change has already taken place. Examples are: I never…I no longer…

Level 4: The Level of the Better You. This is the most effective kind of Self-Talk we can ever use. It has been used the least, but needed the most. It is at this level that you are painting a completed new picture of yourself, the way your really wanted to be, handing it over to the subconsious, and saying, “THIS is the me I want you to create!. It is characterized by the words, “I am a winner! I am healthy, energetic, enthousisastic and I’m going for it! Nothing can stop me now. I like me and who I am!

Level 5: The Level of Universal Affirmation. This level has been spoken of for hundreds of years. It is the self-talk of oneness with a higher meaning. Some might call it oneness with God. This transcends all worldly things and gives meaning to our being. It is the language of those, who having conquered their ties to a life of earth-bound demands, choose to seek their manifest place in somethng greater than ourselves and others.

MEANING AND PURPOSE

Viktor Frankl,  A viennese psychiatrist who survived three years of horror in the death camps during World War II, observed how, when face3d with identical cirumstances, some people lost all hope for living and died, while others “attained virtual saintliness.”

In  his book “Man’s Search for Meaning,” Frankl tells how those who had a purpose for living were more able to withstand the trials of starvation and torture. Those who lacked a purpose or who could see no meaning beyond their predicament died quickly.

Thoughts to ponder:

  1. What does this tell you about the importance of establishing a purpose for living? What do you feel are some purposes for living?
  2. Imagine yourself in later year of life; you overhear your grandchildren telling their friends about your life and your accomplishments. What would you like them to say about you?
  3. Imagine your life story on the evening news. What would you choose for the headline?
  4. Take a few minutes right now to reflect on your own purpose for living, and write down some of your thoughts.
